OOTD: Layers

Long time, no talk, right? Well, today I want to talk about layers. Layers are ideal when the weather can't quite make up its mind. I started with a short sleeve t-shirt dress from H&M, which is literally one of my favorite staple pieces ever. Everyone needs to own one. I then opted for a buffalo check shirt from Forever 21 over the dress because it is extremely windy today and short sleeves were just not cutting it. I finished the look with black boots. The thing that I love the most about wearing layers in the fall is when the wind subsides, I can easily tie the plaid shirt around my waist and BAM, I am on trend and dressed appropriately for the weather.

How to style:

I also love how Sincerely, Jules styles this layered trend: Dress, blazer and plaid

Perfect Pumpkin

Today, I started decorating my house for fall/Halloween and can't wait to post some pictures of the final result. I also made a trip to Lowe's to buy gold spray paint and found this adorable, perfect pumpkin. I was going to carve it, but plan on using a DIY idea found here instead. Oh, and excuse my hair in this picture, I had been running errands all day. And despite what the temperature was supposed to be today, it ended up pretty warm, which I am not happy about. Needless to say, my curls had fallen at this point and my hair was a scraggly mess. But hey, at least my outfit was cute.

Get the look:
Kimono: TJ Maxx ($14.99) -Similar
Shirt: Forever 21 ($12.50)
Pants: Old Navy ($39.50)
Shoes: Minnetonka ($39.99)

This is going to be a rather long post so I am going to jump right in! Today, we are discussing swimsuit coverups. Coverups you can also run errands or go out for food & day drinks because we all know beach/vacation life entails both.

15 fabulous swimsuit covers for under $100:

#3: Chevron Crochet Cover-Up $14.80-If you are a chevron girl, this coverup was made for you. Pair with a floppy hat and bikini.

#4: Another option for a swimsuit coverup is to utilize an item already in your closet such as a muscle tee, tunic, or casual dress. Forever 21 has the muscle tee down to a science with the Vagabond Muscle Tee for only $13.80. It should be worn with aviators, topknot, bikini and sunscreen!

#5: The plunging neckline of the Tropical Mirror Tunic from South Beach Swimsuits is seriously eye-catching and can be worn as a day dress. Offered for $88.00

#12: Sometimes I want to just throw on a tank after laying out in the sun for hours, or to take a stroll on the beach in. If you are the same way, check out the Roxy Keep It Tropical Ombre racerback tank from Nordstrom for only $16.41. Overall Shorts

Move over high waisted shorts, there's a new (more like old but revamped) trend in town...overalls!
I know a percentage of people just stopped reading this but for those who stuck around: OVERALLS ARE MAKING A COMEBACK IN FASHION, just watch. Vintage inspired fashion bloggers brought this trend back full force, and I do not hate it. Overall shorts are super comfortable and totally acceptable if styled correctly.

For example:
I love how she styled this pair, who knew overalls could be chic? Take notes from this gal and cuff the legs of overalls and add cognac colored booties with a slight heel for an effortlessly stylish look.

Check out this pair of overalls from H&M, and notice the shorts are already cuffed and distressed to modernize them. The best part? These babies are only $29.95; h&m does it again!

Forever 21 sure knows how to attract me, LACE OVERALLS, oh my! I like that these are fitted opposed to slouchy like normal overalls. It adds a completely different vibe-perfect for summer!

Maybe stripes are more your fancy?

Check out these Sassy Stripes Overalls from Mod Cloth

The wash of these Billabong overall shorts is so rad. I can totally see these with a flower crown and a cropped top or a bralette with a cool neckline at a music festival, can you?

What will you wear with your overall shorts this summer? Comment below!

Field of Daisies

Spring is here and flowers are popping up everywhere, even on our clothing. One of the most prevalent trends in fashion right now is daisy print. Forever 21 has so many amazing daisy printed pieces to choose from and some of my favorite brands such as Brandy Melville, Free People, and Urban Outfitters are right on trend as well.

Below are some of my favorite DAISY PRINTED ITEMS:

#1: Daisy Love Cami from Forever 21: At first glance this tank looks like something from Brandy Melville with its floral print and slouchy fit, but it is indeed from Forever 21 and only $12.80!

#2: Speaking of Brandy Melville, one of the cutest daisy printed pieces I have seen thus far is the Carolina Daisies Top. BM is known for graphics and this is one of my favorite ones the company has made. Be aware of the weird sizing, Brandy Melville's tops are usually one size.

#3: I love love the Truly Madly Deeply Daisy Cropped Tee from Urban Outfitters and I know you will too. Just add cutoffs and a flower headband and boom-instant spring/summer outfit.

How I style the daisy trend: Cream crochet items really look amazing with daisy print because the petals of the daisy match the crochet and D'Orsay flats + a doctor's satchel add a trendy factor!

Shirt, Shorts, and Headband: Forever 21
Shoes and handbag: TJ Maxx

This outfit was perfect for shopping then a picnic in the park this past weekend!

Kimono Craze

2Today’s post comes from an old photo I took last year when H&M first started selling online. When I discovered they would finally offer online shopping for the United States, I was super excited to say the least. One of the first things that I did when it became available was order this dress & kimono. I am reintroducing this outfit because I really love how the kimono looks with the slightly high-low dress and the Madden Girl combat boots add an unexpected edge. I opted for a spiked cuff to add some sparkle which matches the studs on my boots. Since this picture, the kimono fad has skyrocketed and now almost every major clothing company carries them.

Harem Pants

My recent trip to Forever 21 confirmed the fact that I absolutely adore Harem pants. If you have no clue what on earth Harlem pants are, stay tuned! I first noticed Harem pants making their way into the fashion world a couple of years ago when top designers started featuring them in their collections at Fashion Week. Now, two years later, every clothing company is jumping on the harem pants train, but I don’t hate it. Not only are harem pants extremely comfortable, they are versatile as well. You can dress them up with heels, or down with gladiator sandals.
I bought my fist pair last year from Target. In fact, I even blogged about them so click here to check out that post. I had idea when or what to wear with them when I first purchased them. However, this year I totally plan on wearing them with anything & everything, and everywhere.
Here is some inspiration on how to style Harlem pants from the lovely FOREVER 21:
Harlem Pants 1
Flutter sleeve crop top, hat, and booties- I LOVE this ensemble and would totally wear it, would you?

This outfit is perfect for a night out because of the leather and chunky heels. Where would you wear it?

For a more casual look, try tucking the bottoms into a pair of tall converse. Like these.

This look might be my favorite look because of the sheer fact that it is casual yet chic! You can never go wrong with pointy toe sandals, paisley print, and a t-shirt in the warmer months, which are coming (I think).

I would totally wear this to an outdoor shopping mall, like an outlet mall or something of that nature. Muscle tees are apparently still in style (good because I have so many) and sneakers keep it casual yet cute. Would you wear it?

How To Style: Tulle Skirt

Tulle skirts are so in right now; maybe it’s inspiration from the ever so popular show Sex and the City, or maybe the newer show based on the earlier years of Carrie Bradshaw- The Carrie Diaries has something to do with it, but fashion has embraced tulle skirts with full force. I stumbled across one for a decent price through Instagram and actually kind of love it. The skirt itself is pretty dressy and can definitely be worn with stilettos and a silk top for a soft and sophisticated look, but look how effortless a darker muscle tank with studs looks paired with the tulle… an unexpected edge keeps things interesting.
Muscle Tank: Forever 21(similar)
I loved it so much I ordered black too. Another way a tulle skirt can be worn is high-waisted with a bandeau. Of course, I had to add some edge to this girly outfit so I opted for a brass spike necklace. And can we talk about the fabulous bag? Black and white is right on trend right now, which makes this the perfect bag to transition into Spring.IMG_3141 Skirt: Threads by Love on Instagram
Bandeau: Charlotte Russe
Handbag: Just Fab
Necklace: Pac Sun (similar)
I have mentioned Just Fab before but if you are not a member yet, click here to join.
More colors of the tulle skirt are on the way to Threads By Love for Spring so do not miss out. Click here to check out their instagram, which is fabulous by the way (so much inspiration), and to order one!

Army jeans-Mention Monday

First, I would like to apologize for the small absence. School and life have been kicking me hard lately. Second, Happy Veteran’s Day to all of the brave men and women who are fighting or have fought in the past. We are forever thankful for your service. Third, it is Mention Monday and today’s topic goes along with Veteran’s Day. I know you have seen the army trend get more and more popular as each day passes. When I say army trend…I am referring to the color army green, camouflage print , and combat boots. Popular examples are: army green jackets, bomber jackets, and now army green jeans.

Army green jeans- Shop Hope's
Tiger sweater- Forever 21
Tribal cardigan- Forever 21
Statement Necklace- Ebay

I like to pair ‘army’ pieces with more feminine ones like this statement necklace.

OOTD: Herringbone and Sailboats + Instagram update

One of the trendiest things I have noticed about upcoming Fall fashion is the mixture of prints and textures. Do not be surprised when you see people walking down the street in floral print & polka dots or animal print & stripes; it is all the rage this Fall. If you have been trend spotting like me you have seen this popular trend on Pinterest, magazines, youtube, store fronts, and other various places. This is my take on it:

Prints
Converse
Shirt: Forever 21 (Herringbone print)- This top I purchased for $9.99 on sale.
Skirt: J Crew outlet (purchased a few years ago)- My favorite thing is the pockets!
Shoes: White Converse- I just bought these yesterday hence why they look never worn.

What are you wearing? What is your take on mixing prints and textures in your wardrobe? Feel free to post a picture or link your blog to show off the way you style the mixing prints trend.
Oh and I was going to post pictures from my Instagram but I will just do a whole different post on those so stay tuned.

OOTN: Date Night {Maxis + Metal}

Today, I am featuring a fabulous crimson color maxi skirt which I found at Forever 21 for a shocking $16.99. The story behind this skirt is simple, I was browsing Forever 21 because they have been abundant with their muscle tees lately and I am slightly obsessed. I love styling them with lacy bandeau bras, as featured in this previous post. I have been looking for the perfect maxi skirt but have been unable to find it and low and behold, when I’m not looking for it…there it is.
photo image I was searching for the perfect outfit for dinner, I tried on this anchor top from Steve and Barry (anyone else remember that store? I loved it!) This isn’t the outfit I chose for dinner but it would be a great one to venture to the beach and go shopping in.
Shirt: Steve & Barry
Skirt: Forever 21
