Perfect Pumpkin

Today, I started decorating my house for fall/Halloween and can't wait to post some pictures of the final result. I also made a trip to Lowe's to buy gold spray paint and found this adorable, perfect pumpkin. I was going to carve it, but plan on using a DIY idea found here instead. Oh, and excuse my hair in this picture, I had been running errands all day. And despite what the temperature was supposed to be today, it ended up pretty warm, which I am not happy about. Needless to say, my curls had fallen at this point and my hair was a scraggly mess. But hey, at least my outfit was cute.

Get the look:
Kimono: TJ Maxx ($14.99) -Similar
Shirt: Forever 21 ($12.50)
Pants: Old Navy ($39.50)
Shoes: Minnetonka ($39.99)

Thanks for reading and happy Wednesday!

Rain boots/ Wellies

The weather has been so rainy and stormy lately that I thought this rain boot/wellie post is more than appropriate. Yes, there is other brands of rain boots/ wellies out there besides HUNTER. Although Hunter’s are fabulous quality, I like to be different. Here is some of my faves on the online market under $100 right now- seeing as how Hunter boots are 100+ on a good day. And of course these boots are snow appropriate as well. I don’t know if you’ve heard but from the sound of it, we are going to need some snow boots to venture outside in the snowpocalypse 2 aka inches of snow in the south for the second time this year, which never happens. Anyways, how about some rain boots/ wellies?
For a wide selection of styles and colors check out Amazon seller Nomad, you won’t be disappointed.

Have a wonderful Monday, readers!

Dressing for School

The first thing on my mind when I wake up in the morning is, What am I going to wear? When I was younger, I would not sleep until I picked out what I was going to wear to school. Now, not so much.
Take a look at the outfit I threw together this morning before class.
{Today was my last Friday class, wahoo!}

Shirt: Old Navy
Sweater: Kohl’s
Pants: Target

I think layers add a professional vibe to any outfit and I love the contrast of this sparkly sweater from Kohl’s with this checkered shirt from Old Navy. I wore my brown and black boots from Target to complete this ensemble.

I've got my new dress on!

Happy Friday y'all!
What is it about a new dress that makes us feel as if we could conquer the world? I am not sure but it might have something to do with the bell sleeves or super bright print on this one.
For today's outfit of the day, I paired it with a homemade fringe scarf and tall black leather boots. I think it adds a trendy yet edgy kick to a rather conservative dress.
Printed dress: Local boutique
Scarf: Made by me!
Boots: Steve Madden
{DIY for the scarf coming soon}
To dress up the look: Add a statement necklace.

 Have a good weekend, see ya for Mention Monday.
I will give you a little hit about what is to come...
it is [just fab]ulous.

OOTD: Skulls and Full Throttle

I know Outfit of the day posts are a favorite among many so here is another for this fantastic Friday! Okay, I just sounded like an elementary school teacher trying to pump up her students for “fantastic friday!”
Oh, and have I mentioned how obsessed I have been with the energy drink Full Throttle? If not, here is a picture to prove it. One of those cans goes with me everywhere (no joke), but only the Citrus flavor ones! I encourage you to pick one up if you see it in the store or I get mine from Wal-Mart in the 4 pack. Full Throttle tastes way better than Red Bull or any other energy drink I have tried thus far.
At any rate, here is WIW (what I’m wearing) today!
IMG_2030IMG_2042IMG_2041
Pants: Target
Shirt: Sin Clothing on Etsy
Oversized shirt: h&m - (One of my favorite shirts, ever)

I hope y’all have a good weekend, see ya on Mention Monday!

OOTD: Nomad Fringe

 IMG_2084IMG_2089 IMG_2097IMG_2083 (1)
Sweater: Hope’s Boutique
Jeans: Allen B. Jeans Company
Shoes: None because I am a nomad :)
I was more than ecstatic to score this fringe poncho/cardigan/sweater thing from Hope’s for only 31.99 with the discount code they provided on Instagram Monday. Unfortunately, the code is expired and only worked for that day but nonetheless, it is the first thing I have ever bought form Shop Hope’s and I am such a happy customer! Not only did the package get here the NEXT day but the quality of the sweater thing itself is to die for! I was super nervous about ordering a medium because the small was sold out but I am so glad I did. The oversized look is perfect for the aztec design jeans I paired it with. I cannot wait to wear it out and see everyone’s reaction to my Nomad look!ope’s Don’t fret, Hope’s has plenty other aztec/nomad style cardigans and sweaters. To check them out click here. Also, do not forget to follow them on Instagram…it is where they post all sales and most new items!
I hope y’all are having a wonderful Wednesday!

Mention Monday: Kohl’s Discount Code

Congratulations, you made it through another week and are still kicking, despite the negative aspects!
 Does it sound a little cliché? Well, sometimes we just need a little reminder that even though life may kick us down, there is always something to smile about and worth getting back up for.

As a blogger, sometimes I feel my significance is small in the HUMONGOUS world of blogging and the internet. Maybe it is, but just when I start thinking negative…something amazing happens and reminds me the reason I blog. A younger girl reached out to me for styling advice and inquired about finding certain brands for cheaper, and that is when it hit me…it doesn't matter the mass significance my blog makes. The only thing that truly matters is helping the girl who can’t figure out what to wear, or the woman looking to branch outside of her comfort zone into a whole new look, or the insecure girl that sits at the computer all day dreaming about gaining the confidence to make her mark on the world. The follower count does not matter because if one person reads my blog and is inspired, they will tell another, and eventually the word gets out. It may take two years, it may take three, but persistence is key. I will continue to pour out my inspirations to the few who are listening and I will continue to inform my readers of all the deals, sales, stores, and other things floating around in my brain, but when one person leaves my blog and is inspired, is what makes all the editing, photography, researching, and analyzing worth it. On that note, I have an exciting announcement for this ‘Mention Monday’ post. As you should know by now, I am an avid Kohl’s shopper and Lauren Conrad Collection obsessed. The best thing about Kohl’s, aside from the fabulous clothes and exclusive brands, is the SALES and promotions. Every time I walk into Kohl's, I walk out with a smile on my face. As a frugal college student, seeing a huge number on the You Saved portion of the sales receipt makes me super happy.

With that being said, Kohl’s reached out to me and shared an exclusive Fall discount code for my readers:
All you have to do is type FALLMOMTEN in the Promo Code area at checkout to receive 10% off your entire purchase! The code is good from October 1st through the end of December and can also be combined with another code. How awesome is that, not one discount but TWO!
Go check out Kohl’s and the Lauren Conrad Collection, y'all

How would you like to see a series on the Lauren Conrad Fall Collection? Leave comments below.
Also, feel free to tell me what you bought with the discount code!

Fall favorites

----------------------------------->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Something exciting happened last night. Something I have been waiting to do for weeks.
The weather was finally perfect to wear a hoodie. That is right, folks; I wore a hoodie for the first time this Fall last night and it felt AMAZING. Which hoodie did I wear, you ask. Only my favorite Hurley one.
A hoodie is not pefect unless paired with leggings and Steve Madden boots, right? Right.
Also, last night I discovered the perfect item to add to my wish list. Yes, this watch is flawless...thanks for noticing. Nordstrom I applaud you for making this beautiful gem of a watch unaffordable to college kids like myself. My favorite thing about this beautiful timepiece is the silver AND gold. It is absolutely breathtaking.

Here is an outfit I kept getting compliments on at school and work.
Shirt: Old Navy (WHAT? Yes, Old Navy.)
Pants: Red jeans from Lauren Conrad's collection found at Kohl's
Shoes: Paprika brand found at Tilly's (I wear these way too much, I know.)
Hair: New Nume wand...tutorial soon
Next, this is currently my favorite thermal via CHAPS brand found at Kohl's, Belk, and other fine retailers. The pearl necklace is from Zara.
These boots are definitely made for walkin'...right out of what store? TARGET of course. Lately, Target has been home to some of the trendiest and most affordable clothes and shoes that I have found. Inspired by brands like Tory Burch, Lauren Conrad (Kohl's), Steve Madden, Michael Kors, and other brands, these boots are priced at a shocking $39.99.
Finally, the last discovery of my Fall post is a thrift shop locator I found via Pinterest {below}
Go to www.thriftshopper.com and type in your zip code to access the National Thrift Store Directory which is a list of thrift shops that can be found in your area.

XOXO,
Sweet Southern Pea
