OOTD: Layers

Long time, no talk, right? Well, today I want to talk about layers. Layers are ideal when the weather can't quite make up its mind. I started with a short sleeve t-shirt dress from H&M, which is literally one of my favorite staple pieces ever. Everyone needs to own one. I then opted for a buffalo check shirt from Forever 21 over the dress because it is extremely windy today and short sleeves were just not cutting it. I finished the look with black boots. The thing that I love the most about wearing layers in the fall is when the wind subsides, I can easily tie the plaid shirt around my waist and BAM, I am on trend and dressed appropriately for the weather.

How to style:

I also love how Sincerely, Jules styles this layered trend: Dress, blazer and plaid

A few plaid shirts to check out:

Thanks for reading, y'all
We will talk soon

Overall Shorts

Move over high waisted shorts, there's a new (more like old but revamped) trend in town...overalls!
I know a percentage of people just stopped reading this but for those who stuck around: OVERALLS ARE MAKING A COMEBACK IN FASHION, just watch. Vintage inspired fashion bloggers brought this trend back full force, and I do not hate it. Overall shorts are super comfortable and totally acceptable if styled correctly.

For example:
I love how she styled this pair, who knew overalls could be chic? Take notes from this gal and cuff the legs of overalls and add cognac colored booties with a slight heel for an effortlessly stylish look.

Check out this pair of overalls from H&M, and notice the shorts are already cuffed and distressed to modernize them. The best part? These babies are only $29.95; h&m does it again!

Forever 21 sure knows how to attract me, LACE OVERALLS, oh my! I like that these are fitted opposed to slouchy like normal overalls. It adds a completely different vibe-perfect for summer!

Maybe stripes are more your fancy?

Check out these Sassy Stripes Overalls from Mod Cloth

The wash of these Billabong overall shorts is so rad. I can totally see these with a flower crown and a cropped top or a bralette with a cool neckline at a music festival, can you?

What will you wear with your overall shorts this summer? Comment below!

Kimono Craze

2Today’s post comes from an old photo I took last year when H&M first started selling online. When I discovered they would finally offer online shopping for the United States, I was super excited to say the least. One of the first things that I did when it became available was order this dress & kimono. I am reintroducing this outfit because I really love how the kimono looks with the slightly high-low dress and the Madden Girl combat boots add an unexpected edge. I opted for a spiked cuff to add some sparkle which matches the studs on my boots. Since this picture, the kimono fad has skyrocketed and now almost every major clothing company carries them.
How do you like to wear kimonos?

HM: Corporate Chic

I posted about h&m a week or so ago, but have you seen the newest catalog? It’s fabulous! Many styles are featured in the catalog, but one of my favorites is something I like to call Corporate Chic, which basically consists of blazers, suit pants, structured handbags, oxford blouses, and heels/loafers (Whichever fits your fancy).

Although this Single Breasted Coat is a little more on the pricey side ($59.95), it looks like it would fit nicely and I love love the hidden snap closure. Sometimes it’s nice to change things up a bit plus a big button gets old.
Or how about this Fitted Dress to spice up a boring work week? The best part is- the belt is included.
I need these fabulous Slim-Fit Suit Pants in every color and so does every working woman.
No Corporate Chic wardrobe is complete without the essentials:
A little black Pencil Skirt and the classic oxford Cotton Shirt.

                      Skirt: $24.95                                                                            Shirt: $9.95

Remember the structured handbags I mentioned in the beginning, take a look at my favorite from H&M right now and the best part is- the Handbag is under $40. How about that for frugal? LOVE IT. Do you?

The last thing on the Corporate Chic checklist is heels/ loafers (or oxfords). To clarify, I am referring to work appropriate heels, not the ones you wore to the club last weekend. These options are for under $50 & scream chic.

PUMPS $29.95                            LOAFERS $49.95              PUMPS $34.95 (Match the bag!)

Do you practice Corporate Chic, or did the post inspire you to start? Tell me in the comments!

h&m January Favorites

January is almost over, can you believe it? The end of the month means payday is coming which means so is my overwhelming urge to shop and spend every penny. With the ups and downs of the weather lately, I have held off buying clothes. It will be cold here one day then the next I’m searching for shorts to throw on. I have also been saving money since Christmas sorta broke me. I happened to receive the H&M Spring catalog last week and it made me crave SPRING and online shopping from h&m; which is where the title comes in…here is a list of my favorite items on hm.com right now, also known as my January favorites. Some of these items can be found online but most are from the catalog. If the item is online, I linked it and those links can be found by clicking the number before the description.
1. First, I am really digging this pink lace top for only $14.95. It comes in black, white, mocha, pink, and floral print. I see it paired with white linen skinny pants rolled up at the bottom or CHINOS and cognac colored sandals with fringe.
2. This next item is absolutely perfect for upcoming Valentine’s Day because of the heart print. If hearts aren’t quite your style, the top comes in white with black dots, dark blue with white polka dots, or cream with navy stripes. $24.95
3. I have been looking for a black maxi skirt since summer of last year and never found the right one. I think I have now: this maxi skirt looks like it would pair perfect with graphic tees for a casual and edgy look or a floral tank for a more sophisticated, girly vibe and is only $17.95. The skirt comes in cognac brown, black, purple, and dark blue.
4. I bet you can’t guess what is printed on this next item? If you guessed polka dots, you are correct! I am loving them more than usual this year and nothing is more chic than a black dress with white dots! The zipper is also a nice detail to this dress. It comes in black, red, and dark gray and is only $14.95.
5. Staying with the dress theme, the next dress I want to mention is a denim skater dress with an acid-like wash for $24.95. This particular dress reminds me of something from the 90’s but with an edgy yet modern skater-like bottom.
I have to set limits for myself before receiving my paycheck so I know how much I can spend and actually afford. Which item is your favorite from the H&M Spring/Summer collection? Tell me in the comments!

How To Style: Target finds

Happy Friday,
I posted a picture of these adorable black and white geometric print comfy pants (as I call them) earlier this week here but the picture doesn't do the pants justice. I had to demonstrate how they actually look on the body and what I think looks best with them.

Top: h&m
Pants: Target
Necklace: Francesca's
Shoes: Kensie
Tuesday, I wore the top I mentioned in the same post with the pants but I am not a fan how it shows my stomach. Next time I am going to wear a blank tank underneath, so there is no white skin sticking out of the fabric into the crochet material. Another way to style this top is with high waist colored skinny jeans. The higher waist would be more flattering with the top.

HM U.S. ONLINE SHOPPING: NOW OPEN

image
I mentioned in a previous post, liked here HM tweeted me back when I inquired about their online shopping. I was casually checking my e-mail like always and what pops up in the inbox? An exciting e-mail linked here which states ONLINE SHOPPING IS AVAILABLE NOW FOR THE U.S. THIS makes me one excited shopper. I no longer have to travel 2 hours to Jacksonville or 3 to Buford to shop at h & m. I mentioned before H&M is seriously my favorite place to shop ever; the clothes are trendy on a whole different level and the prices are affordable to a college student on a budget. The picture above is because I was so excited to see the webpage. Excuse me while I go spend my savings on goodies from H&M.
Have a great day; mine is officially made!
