The Carrie Diaries + Tech Tuesday

In my opinion, The Carrie Diaries is one of the best television shows out right now, or that was out. The season finale was last night and I missed it (so sad), but the bright side is I’m watching it right now; courtesy of Roku AND Hulu Plus. The Carrie Diaries is the prequel to Sex and the City and is narrated by “Carrie Bradshaw” as a teenager. It is completely amazing and you should definitely check it out!
If you don’t know what Roku and Hulu Plus is, keep reading.
Roku (Well I have the Roku 2 XD) Streaming Player which can access Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Pandora, and millions of other apps on the internet. Once it accesses the application, it streams it directly to your television through an HDMI cable. The Roku is really small in size and comes with a nifty little remote that has Netflix, Pandora, and Crackle buttons. I used to stream Netflix on my Wii but I haven’t even turned it on since I bough this Roku. I purchased it from Amazon for $67.99. Honestly, it was the best $70.00 I ever spent. I barely even need to watch cable television with this Roku. If it wasn’t for Bates Motel, Yukon Men, and The Carrie Diaries, I would probably not turn on my cable. In fact, another advantage of the Roku is you could probably get rid of your cable or satellite and save fifty plus bucks a month! Now, that is something worth rejoicing about. It all depends on your preference and what you like to watch; which brings me to Hulu Plus.
I have seen Hulu Plus on the app store on the Roku and wanted to click on it but haven’t yet because I knew it cost money. I am already subscribed to Netflix so I didn’t want to add another streaming system to my credit card bill BUT I was looking to watch The Carrie Diaries online and stumbled upon a Hulu Plus link. The link took me to a screen that read TRY HULU PLUS FOR A WEEK FREE. I was like, okay, it’s time to try Hulu.
So, I downloaded it and have been watching The Carrie Diaries season finale ever since; which is like 30 minutes ago, haha. So far, I am absolutely loving the season finale episode and Hulu Plus and I haven’t even had the chance to browse around because I have been so into this episode. The only disadvantage I have seen is there are commercials on Hulu Plus but they are literally like 30 seconds long; which is relatively short compared to the minutes television companies pound advertisements into your brain. I wouldn’t call it a disadvantage necessarily but some people might say that is negative compared to Netflix with absolutely no advertisement.
I just realized I forgot to mention the price of Hulu Plus. It is $7.99/Month and is a direct deposit from your credit card every month. It was super quick and easy to sign up and to activate to my Roku.
I hope this informed you a little bit and convinced you to try out a Roku and Hulu Plus because I have been loving it so far. Also, if you have been wondering about The Carrie Diaries, type in
and access every episode in the first season.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope y’all are having a wonderful Tuesday!

XOXO,
Sweet Southern Style
