Today I went simple and wore jeans and boots with this blazer, piko top, and pearls. It was raining when I left school and my hair ended up in this half twist knot style after it wouldn’t stay out of my face while running (Haha).
Blazer: Merona from Target
Top: PIKO brand
Necklace: Made by my mom
Hair: Courtesy of humidity and rain

Have a wonderful weekend y’all, see ya Monday!

Dressing for School

The first thing on my mind when I wake up in the morning is, What am I going to wear? When I was younger, I would not sleep until I picked out what I was going to wear to school. Now, not so much.
Take a look at the outfit I threw together this morning before class.
{Today was my last Friday class, wahoo!}

Shirt: Old Navy
Sweater: Kohl’s
Pants: Target

I think layers add a professional vibe to any outfit and I love the contrast of this sparkly sweater from Kohl’s with this checkered shirt from Old Navy. I wore my brown and black boots from Target to complete this ensemble.

Back to School: Essentials

People all over the world are getting back into “school” mode. Whether they just went back a few weeks ago or will just be going back sometime this week, school is school, and every person needs certain things.
The first ESSENTIAL is a functional yet attractive backpack. It is definitely important to have a cute backpack but do you even consider how practical it will be for your particular everyday lifestyle? If you are active, you need a backpack with padding. If you will be carrying tons of books and binders at one time plus a laptop, consider a large one. Oh, and always, always, always read the specs or dimensions of the bag before purchasing it. You may think you like the bag and it may appear large but pictures can be deceiving; the only way to truly know is to check the dimensions. If the website doesn’t list them, type the product name into Google and most likely somewhere else on the internet will also be selling that item but will list the dimensions. The next thing to consider when purchasing a backpack is the padding of the straps; some come with canvas straps with buckles, others padded straps (great for heavy books), and some have the padded straps that buckle. There are so many different variations of backpacks for every individual which makes it extremely hard to choose. For that very reason here are some links to get you started:
#1: PAC SUN
#2: TILLYS
#3: Zumiez
#4: Amazon:
#5: Dog Funk
#6: Vera Bradley
#7: Surf and Dirt
Keep in mind if a backpack is not your style these sites also have messenger bags and even some rolling ones, if you like that.  Most of these places carry brands like Billabong, Hurley, Volcom, and others because I have found throughout my 14+ years of school [including college] these brands end up holding up the best and are the most practical while remaining trendy and stylish; which is everything a school kid (middle, high, or college) needs.
The second ESSENTIAL is an up to date planner or agenda to record homework assignments/ important dates and notes. Of course my first recommendation is a Lily Pulitzer agenda but there are other brands equally as pleasing and not quite so pricey.
If you are interested in a Lily Pulitzer agenda, click here.
If not check out Etsy or Ebay. Also, online might not be the best place to order one of these, most chain stores like Wal-Mart and Target are prime for these. I cannot forget obvious places like office stores (Staples and Office Depot).
The next ESSENTIALS for school, no matter the age are obvious things like binders, folders, paper, pens, pencils, and highlighters. Am I forgetting something? Let me know in the comments below!
